How to publish files using FrontPage - 2005/01/03 13:54 Once you create a website in Microsoft FrontPage 2000, you can use the publish feature to upload the files to your account. To publish your FrontPage files to your account, perform the following steps:

1. Open the FrontPage web where your files are located by clicking on the File menu and selecting Open Web.

Note: If your files are not in a FrontPage web, you must create a web and then import the files into it. To create a FrontPage web, click on the File menu, select New and then choose Web. Then, click on the File menu and select Import to import the files.

2. Once your FrontPage web is open, make sure the filenames do not contain any spaces, as this will cause a problem when the files are uploaded. Then, click on the File menu and select Publish Web.

3. In the box under Specify the location to publish your web to, type:

If this is a new account and your domain name is not resolving yet
ftp://rhpstudios.com/~username/public_html

The tilde character (~ ) is located on the upper-left corner of the keyboard and your username is your account username.

or if your domain name is already resolving
ftp://yourdomain.com/public_html

4. Make sure Publish changed pages only is selected. Then click on Publish.

5. Enter your username and password. Then click on OK.

Note: If your public_html directory contains files that are not in your FrontPage web, you will be prompted to delete each of these files. If you do not want the files deleted, make sure to select No.

6. When notified that the website was published successfully, click on Done.

To view your website, do not select Click here to view your published web site. Instead, open a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, or Netscape. Each of the uploaded files can now be accessed at:

If this is a new account and the domain name is not resolving yet.
http://rhpstudios.com/~username/filename

For example, if your username is jdoe and the filename is hw1.htm, the file can be accessed at:

http://rhpstudios.com/~jdoe/hw1.htm

or if your domain name is resolving, you can use:
http://www.yourdomain.com

Note: If the main file is called index.htm or index.html, you do not need to specify the filename in the website address. For example, you could access the file at: http://rhpstudios.com/~jdoe
or
http://www.yourdomain.com
