feedback needed - 2005/01/02 22:04 I took an extended break over the holidays....and now I am back to coding.....

when setting up a race season, would it be easier to select the number of races that will occur during that season and the corresponding dates of each race on the same screen? (combining the season and race menus basically) - i.e. you would enter a season name of 2005, select 12 races and then there would be 12 additional areas presented to fill in the corresponding race information.

what additional information should be included in the rider / driver profiles? Should pictures be allowed?

what additional information should be included in the track profiles?

what is the default information you would expect to see as a visitor to a web site who clicked on the racestats link?

Re:feedback needed - 2005/08/12 08:41 I got my hands into too many projects at once and this one took a back seat, partially because the original client I was creating this for decided to go a different route and I really had no one providing any feedback on what it needed or lacked. I could pick this project back up again and finish it with some feedback. Basically I had finished about as much of the backend as I could based on what I knew about racing. The front-end I could finish in a weekend or two.

If you would like for me to pick this back up, just reply here and let me know what it needs/lacks/features that need added.

Sorry for the delay in response, I had been out of town on business.

Re:feedback needed - 2005/08/14 04:28 Optimally, i hope you know what you engage in!

I have some experience managing race leagues and I hope this and my english is good enough, to give you the benefit to optimize the system. Many people are waiting for such a race managing system, especially for mambo.

A system like this should be usable for the most versions of racing. Best will be, that you can use it indepentent for running, horse-, cart-, Formula 1-, NASCAR-racing and especially for sim racing leagues.

First of all there, is the league and then the season. A league contains i. e.:

- Name
- Short Name
- Maybe a sponsor for advertising

After that the season (year) like 2004, 2005

Then the classes or grids:

- Name
- Scoring Method (see below)
- Score by Driver/Craft (i.e. Horseracing)
- Head to Head option will be nice i. e. for Dragracing

Scoring method:

- name of scoring
- scoring per place (unlimited) for starting and finishing
- flexible bonus points (leading laps, most leading, pole position)

The next point, the races are a bit difficult, cause we need more information.

First is the track:

- Name
- Description
- Length
- Picture
- Nice will be the roundrecord and the driver with the most wins automatically from the database

The race:

- Date & Startime
- Name
- Track (see above)
- Length (rounds or time)
- Aditional information like a briefing, type of cars, a.s.o.
- Upload option for a file like a replay or video

For each race we need the results:

- Place
- Driver/Craft
- Complete Racetime
- Rounds
- Laps Led
- Status like running, average, a.s.o.
- Fastest Lap
- Qualifying position
- Qualifying time

For a head to head:

- Driver/Craft vs. Driver/Craft
- Winner
- Time

Before i proceed with the drivers, teams, a.s.o. let me know what you`re thinking about realizing such a extensive system. I`m not a programmer, but i can assist you creating the tables, environment and translation.

Re:feedback needed - 2005/08/19 21:17 have you taken a look at the backend that was started or installed it in mambo yet? A lot of your suggestions I already have done, based on previous clients requests. I had some other code I added but never updated on the web site too....more visual splash than functional.

I am definately interested in picking this back up if it would even benefit one person.

Have a look at the downloadable racestats package (under Free Files) - link:
http://www.xtremewebhosts.com/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=64&func=selectcat&cat=8

Let me know how I need to improve on it. Once the backend is finished (the foundation is layed), the front-end is simple to retrieve the data.

I dont think we will have any language barriers, you seem to do very well in explaining what it needs just from what I read above.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Re:feedback needed - 2005/08/27 06:52 Now found the place where to log in.

Thx for your comments. Certainly I have installed the component before posting my suggestions. I agree with you that the basic is done, but we need more contents to configure and manage a race league. Thatīs what i tried to explain with my post.

By searching for such a system I hit on a very good example for this. Please have a look on http://www.racescore.com where you can download a demo version. This system reflects for most instances what raceleague managers needs to have.

Please let me know what youīre thinking about this system an if itīs possible to built it up similar for mambo.

BR,
Karsten
